Gong show. Today started off so well. We rode 58 kms on the fantastic trail from Sauk Centre to St. Joseph. It was there we heard that we were at the end of the trail. We headed out on the 75 with the intention of pulling onto the 94 and continuing onto Maple something or other. When we hit the 94 there was a sign saying no non motorized vehicles allowed so we turned back to St Cloud and navigated our way to Hwy 10. One mistake later we found it. Trevor had a flat on route and then Carl had a flat and then Carl had a flat and then Carl had a flat.....you get the idea. The humidity today was a bit of a shock. It seemed we couldn't drink enough liquid. You would think that with the extra moisture in the air, you would need less water but it seems it's the other way around. Francois had warned me. He said, "just wait till you get to the east coast" or something like that. Back to Carl. He had no more tubes and I think he had hit the "flat tire wall". We were riding along the 10 and out of no where I saw a bike shop sign. We crossed over and approached the door half thinking it would be closed and it wasn't. The two guys there were very helpful in that they gave Carl a tube no charge and they gave me a free crank wrench. then they filled our water bottles, gave us stickers and t shirts. We left there and decided to get a motel in Anoka. Anoka is the only town I have ever been to that has NO motels. Stressful. We find one in Coon Rapids. More money than we want to spend but we need a room. Seriously, what town has no motel in the town? Anoka has a bustling arts community and seems pretty cool but if anyone likes it as they drive through, they will have to drive out to the highway to stay as there are no motels in the city centre.
