Blue skies, tailwind and plenty of rest stops. We left Merritt after having breakfast at Home restaurant. We took Coldwater road from Merritt until it hooked up with highway 5. Nice road with lots of scenery, a dead squirrel on the road and more cattle guards than I remember from the first time I rode it with Trevor. After day 2, I have taken Francois' lead and I walk over them (the cattle guards) as it could be quite a mess if the tire slipped off the 3 inch wide track that you need to stay on to ride over. Walking across them is also difficult though when you are wearing cycling shoes. Francois' cleats are more obtrusive than mine so I think I actually have it easier than him crossing. If someone is going to break an ankle crossing a cattle guard, it's going to be me. We are staying at the Coquihalla Motel in Hope. We have stayed here before on my first bike tour with Francois and the boys. The room costs $80.00 a night and the WiFi and cable can't be any worse than it was in Merritt.
