Le Tour de U.S. 2014 | Day 5

Hope to Coquitlam

Up at 7 and breakfast at Home restaurant. Today I had toast and fruit salad as my guts are telling me to lay off the salted meats. On our way out of town I stopped at Coopers and picked up some yogurt. I needs some probiotic action. Lots of stops today and lots of sun. It was absolutely roasting. After a stop at Harrison Bridge I noticed that my bike was a bit wonky. The handlebars were tight and it was hard to steer. We decided that we would stop at a most excellent bike shop in Mission where Francois had some emerge work done 3 years ago. I walked in and 15 minutes later it was finished. Lower front bearings were shot. They did the work for free and I can't say enough nice things about them. Name of shop and bike repair dude below. I also bought some Chamois Butter. It's function is to reduce friction in the nether regions. With the heat it can get a bit nasty down there :\ We arrived at Jim's around 5:30 ish and cleaned up. Olivia prepared a delicious lasagna and caesar salad with ice cream and strawberries for dessert. (see Francois' pictures). I also bought some zinc cream for the damage already done (nether regions).

  • Captain Nicholls: Hey Mike. It's actually embarrassing how long it took me to figure out what you were talking about in that post. I screwed up the title. Didn't quit but chips and a Becks non-alcoholic beverage sound really good right now. - posted over 4 years ago
